Many people have a misconception that the toughest task is to learn how to drive and get a driving licence. If truth be told, the real struggle begins after that. Driver’s often cause unnecessary damage to their vehicle, don’t set a budget and avoid monitoring basic things that can make their driving life way easier. Here is a list of things that a new driver must avoid at all cost.
Mismatched Tyres Make sure that the tyres of your motor are of same type and size. Though, you may find yourself in a costly situation when a tyre gets punctured, it is better to change them in pairs instead of one at a time. Avoid changing a single tyre (though of same type and size) because then the other will be worn out and create a difference. This mismatching of tyres will affect your car’s ABS, which will end up affecting your braking and handling system. Not Using Hand Brakes While stopping at a steep hill, it is normal to use rev to keep the car from rolling backwards. On another hand, you can park your car on an inclined surface without using handbrakes and by simply shifting gears to avoid moving downhill. Nevertheless, while doing so you will be putting a lot of pressure on the gearbox. In such situations, it is better to use a handbrake, as it will lock all four wheels (even the non-drive one) which won’t put much pressure on the engine. Spare Tyre Have you ever had a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere? Scary, isn’t it? You know what’s even scarier; not having a spare tyre to use. Now you can shout at the top of your voice! Well, that was just an imagination. But, if you don’t want that to happen to you, ensure that you’re keeping a check on spare tyres regularly. Of course, it is common for a tyre to lose pressure over time. If left that way, the condition can worsen and tyres might crack out. So, check them frequently. Owner’s Manual Car manual is not an entertaining book to read, especially for someone who is not a book-lover. However, reading a manual can pay off to be more familiar with your pricey acquisition. You can solve out many queries by simply going through the handbook. Blind Spots You will need time to get familiar with your new car. But there are many things you must keep in check. Be aware of the other vehicles on the road (even if the road is empty). Nowadays, many cars are equipped with blind spot assistant technology, which easily detects the vehicles on the road. However, if your car is not equipped with this technology, then you can use a blind spot mirror offering a wider rear view. Keep one thing in mind, “even experienced drivers need to adjust when they switch vehicles.” Even if you consider yourself a pro at driving, these tips will help you out while driving new cars that are rich in features.
